Kenneth C. Draiss, age 91, died Saturday. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York he had lived in Canton since 1948, was retired from the Timken Company, member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist and a World War II Army veteran serving as a medic with the 38th Field Hospital which participated in the battles of Saipan and Iwo Jima. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Draiss (1993) and daughter-in-law, Linda Draiss (2003). Survived by daughters, Peggy (Thomas) Paumier of Minerva and Mary Jane, Dorothy, Judy and Susan Draiss all of Canton, sons, David, Bill and Steve Draiss all of Canton, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Doreo of New York and brother, Paul (Carolyn) Draiss of New York. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with The Very Reverend Ronald Klingler as celebrant. Burial in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ARC or American Diabetes Association.
