Lawrence S. Bucklew, Jr., age 62, died Friday after a long illness. He was a 1973 graduate of Saint Thomas Aquinas High School, attended The Ohio State University, was a Army veteran and was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to his mother, Mary Bucklew, sisters, Therese Williams, Vivian (Paul) Miller and Sue (Craig) Phillips, nieces and nephews, Courtney (Devin), Tayler, Brent, Bethany and Ryan and special friends, "P", Gina and Suna. Preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Sr., brother-in-law, Kevin Williams and his beloved Maddie. The family would like to thank staffs of DaVita, Aultman Woodlawn (Cypress) and the Aultman Compassionate Care Center. Friends may call Monday from 4-6 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Happy Trail Animal Sanctuary, 5623 New Milford Road, Ravenna, Ohio 44266 or www.happytrailsfarm.org. Through out the past few years many medical people have helped Larry. I would like to take a minute to thank them. Dr. Brewster has been with us for about 5 years and gone beyond what you would expect from your doctor. She spoke with Larry Thanksgiving night and anytime we needed her. I will never forget her support. Dr. Papacostas and Dr. Yutzey and the Wound Care staff were kind and encouraging. Dr. Nothnagel and his staff in both offices worked tirelessly to help Larry with his vision. Dr. Weitecha and his staff always tried to help Larry manage his diabetes not so easy when your vision isn't good. Thanks to Dr. Kahn and Andrew. Larry always felt you really cared about him. The people at DaVita, Dr.Soto, Dr. Kelley, Dr.Degenhard, Peter, Kim, Lynnete, Paula and especially Alicia treated Larry like he was a family member. Dialysis was hard for Larry, but you made it bearable. Thanks. Larry broke his leg in October and got to know the staff at Aultman Woodlawn Cypress very well. They treated him again recently. Carrie Cassidy and her staff including Eric, Jennifer, Holly and Wild Thing (you know who you are) were there for us every step of the way. Therapists Carla, Alexis and Suzanne encouraged Larry when he was at his sickest. Dr.Franz was there when Larry decided to stop dialysis, he couldn't have been kinder. Then we go to Compassionate Care with Dr. Senger. She was definitely sent by God to guide Larry and our family on this journey. Thank you to Rachel, Preston, Melissa, Dawn, Linda, Bonnie, Diane, Karen, Noreen, Hunter, Laura, Sue, Maddie, Tina, Rhoda and Jackie. Father Tom Bishop and Chaplain Michael helped Larry and all of us who loved him. Thanks for all of the good food and love.
