LAWRENCE GEORGE FOUSEK, JR.
Lawrence George Fousek, Jr., passed away February 20, 2023 at Mercy Medical Center. He was 84 years old. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 20, 1938, he was the son of the Lawrence and Elsie (Adams) Fousek.
Lawrence attended St. Timothy's church and then graduated from Benedictine High School, served in the US Army, and married Jacqueline Weinman. Over the years, they made many cherished memories together, starting in Cleveland, then Parma, and finally Canal Fulton. Jacki preceded him in death, February 2020.
Larry was a Cleveland Fire Fighter and roofer until his retirement in April 1989. He continued in roof consulting with RoofTec into the early 2000s. Larry and Jacki enjoyed time at their condo in Boca Raton, Florida from the 1990s into the early 2010s. While in Canal Fulton, Larry became very involved with the community, earning him Volunteer of the Year at the Northwest Stark Senior Center in 2016. He enjoyed the billiards league at Paolino's Sports Pub, winning titles in 2014, 2015 and 2022. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion, YMCA, the Lion's Club, and Saints Philip and James Catholic Church. He enjoyed so many things in his life, the numerous years of attendance at the Ohio High School Basketball State Championships, the vacations at Catawba Island, fishing in Michigan for Salmon, handicapping at Northfield Horse track, his involvement at the Senior Center and voting polls, and helping his neighbors.
He is survived by his sons, Ed (Angela) Fousek, Dan (Lisa) Fousek, and grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, and Kristina; step-grandchildren, Kourtney and Alex; sisters, Marie Kissel, Therese (Tom) Hanlon; brothers, James (Barb) Fousek and John (Margie) Fousek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Lawrence's wishes, there will be no visitation. Instead, a Celebration of Life honoring Lawrence will be held at a date to be announced.
