Leon F. Nelson, age 90 of Akron, passed away on May 13, 2017 in hospice care following a short illness. Born December 15, 1926 in Akron, Leon was a World War II Army veteran. He retired from Nelson Building Corporation almost 30 years ago. In retirement, Leon and Pat traveled extensively visiting all 50 states and a number of foreign countries. Together, they spent the better part of the last 20 years living in Green Valley, AZ where Leon discovered his talent and love of wood-turning. Preceded in death by his wives, Bonnie (Jones) Nelson, Dwilla (Lamley-Jacobs) Nelson, and Patricia (Taylor) Nelson, sons, Jeffrey Nelson and Leon Nelson, Jr., parents, Bradford and Magdalena (Schueller) Nelson and sisters: Margaret Wade, Dorothy McAleese, Marcella O'Brien and Ethelreda Borden Leon is survived by his daughters: Patricia (Joseph) Zwisler, Paula (Mark) Jewett, Pamela (Paul) Brady, Laura (Steven Lindo) Murray; sons: Edward (Sheila) Nelson, Mike Nelson, Rick (Julie) Nelson, Joseph (Pam) Nelson, John Nelson; daughter-in-law Patty Nelson; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; step-children and step-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, May 19, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, North Canton with Rev. Msgr. James A. Clarke as celebrant.
