Linda Sue Blystone, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed peacefully at her home on May 21, 2026, at the age of 83. Leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and an unwavering fiery spirit.
Born on May 30, 1942, to the late William and Martha Heinrich, Linda was a thoughtful and giving person to all who knew her. Her parent’s hard work, and love lived on through Linda's actions and character.
In a love story that spanned over six decades, Linda was the beloved wife of Jim Blystone. They exchanged wedding vows on January 29, 1966, and together they embarked on a remarkable journey that spanned six decades, which is a testament to their deep bond and shared dreams. Jim was always by her side, sharing in the joys and challenges of life including the many language barriers they somehow successfully navigated, allowing them to build a family filled with love and much laughter. Together, they traveled the world, establishing a community of lifelong friends, and building a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support from one another. Jim, along with their children James and Nicole, their grandchildren, and the many dogs over the years were the center of Linda's world. Linda was the anchor for the Blystone household throughout the numerous abodes and countries they called home.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband, Jim, and their children, James Blystone, Jr. (Julie) and Nicole Coates (Anthony), who were the lights of her life; and her siblings her brother Bill Heinrich and sister Sue Schoeler. Her love extended to her five cherished grandchildren: Anthony Coates (Victoria), Madalynn Coates, Sydney Coates, Benjamin Coates, and Kensington Blystone, who brought immense pride and joy to her days. Her two great-grandchildren, Amelia and Langston, whose innocence and smiles reminded her of the beauty of life's cycle. Her children remember her as an avid reader, a firecracker with a source of strength, opinionated, and always encouraging them to pursue their dreams, travel the world and live life to the fullest.
Her role as a grandmother was one that Linda embraced with joy and enthusiasm. Her five grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she delighted in every moment spent with them, creating cherished memories and imparting her boundless love. Linda's life was a tapestry of grit, love, kindness, community and many strong opinions.
As we say goodbye to Linda Sue Blystone, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life well-traveled, a life with many strong opinions, and a woman well-loved. Her feisty spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those she touched, and her memory will be a blessing to all who knew her.
She touched the lives of many through her volunteer work at embassies abroad as well as her church and community centers here in the US, always eager to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile. Her presence was a comfort to those around her, and her devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Linda's life.
In memory of Linda, the family kindly encourages in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, as a tribute to her and the hope for a world free of this challenging and dispiriting disease.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Better Together Hospice and Linda’s home care team, Liz Borsellino and Melissa Carrick, whose care, kindness, patience, and unwavering support provided everyone comfort, allowing her to spend her last moments at home with family surrounded by love and peace.
Rest in peace and in the embrace of eternal love.
