Lloyd Robert "Coach Wimp" Bagley, Jr.

Lloyd Robert Bagley Jr. (Coach Wimp) age 87 passed away on Monday February 28, 2022 after numerous health issues. Born September 27, 1934 to Mary & Lloyd Bagley Sr. in Canton Ohio, he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Peter Catholic Church. He attended Central Catholic High School and in 1957 Coach married the love of his life Mary Anne Bagley they were happily married until her passing in 2017. Retired from the Stark County Engineers after 32 years of service he went on the spend over 10 years at Buckeye Security Services, He began volunteer coaching numerous sports at St. Peter's School at the age of 16 and went on to coach at the school for 60 years his teams were always the best outfitted on the field. At the same time, he coached at the Catholic Youth Council. In later years he moved to St. Thomas Aquinas High School where he served in many different functions relating to sports. He was well known for his pre-game motivational speeches, organized locker room and providing mentoring to youth throughout Stark County, He was a second father to many of his former players who he developed lifelong relationships with. Everyone knew Coach! He was inducted into numerous Hall of Fames including; the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame, Canton Negro Oldtimers Hall of Fame, St. Thomas Aquinas Sports Hall of Fame and the Police Boys Club J. Babe Stearn Center Hall of Fame. In 2021 he was awarded a lifetime achievement award for his over 70 years of service to the St. Peter and St. Thomas Communities. He was a Member of the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, the Catholic Interracial Council, and a past member of St. Peter's Men's Club, Amateur Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors, Canton Negro Oldtimers Board of Directors and Catholic Youth Council Board of Directors among others. Survived by his six children Mary Alice Nadeau (Michael), Molly Moriarty (Joseph Grecni) Michael Bagley (Bernie Kraynick), Margaret (Maggie) Bradshaw (Danny), Mark Bagley (Christine) Matthew Bagley (Gretchen), Eight Grandchildren Brian Moriarty (Angie), Shawn Bagley (Morgan), Lauren Bagley (Mat Marash), Nathan Nadeau (Regina) Michael Nadeau Jr. (Erica). Andrew Bagley (Libby), Arin Bagley, Alec Bagley and five great grandchildren (Ryker, Tressel, Michael III, Harley & Isley) Sisters-in-law Patricia Rombach(Timothy) and Nancy Bagley and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sisters Roberta Yung and Irene Bagley, brothers Fred, Norman, Jack, Tom and great grandson Liam Patrick Moriarty. As a youth, Coach was lovingly cared for as a foster child by the Paumier family, he maintained a life long relationship with the family. The family would like to thank our sister Molly who was his main caregiver In his later years and Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care who helped care for him over the past year. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Saint Peter Catholic Church with The Very Reverend John Sheridan, STL as celebrant. Private burial will be in Saint Peter Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Lloyd and Mary Anne Bagley Scholarship fund at St. Peter's School.
