Margaret L. Galizio peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 4, 2022. Margaret was raised by her Italian parents in Akron, Ohio. She grew up as the baby of the family with two sisters and one brother. She graduated from Our Lady of the Elms High School in 1958. She excelled in her academics, and challenged herself to learn different languages, including Latin. Shortly after, she got married on June 9, 1962 and had three healthy children. She always knew the latest fashion trends, and Go-go boots were staple pieces of her outfits. Margaret shortly worked as a room monitor for a local school, but at home is where she made the real difference. She was always in the kitchen making pasta dishes, peppers, and what would later be coined as "nonni's cookies". She was soft spoken and had a gentle spirit, but she was never afraid to speak her mind. She was a wife, mother, and grandmother who was there when you needed her and fought hard to be. She was loved fiercely, and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Joe Galizio, her parents Frank and Josephine Donatelli, her brothers Bobby and Eugene (Gene), sisters Rita Clark, Elizabeth (Betty) Jones and nephew Walter Jones.
Margaret is survived by her children Teresa, John (Tracy), and Marianne (Raymond) Anderson. Her grandchildren Regina (Andrew) Galizio, Desirae (Trevor) Nelson, Vito (Cassie) Galizio, Emily (Logan) Anderson, her great grandchildren Guiliana, and Theodore, and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret will be greatly missed by all who love her. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzehimers Association.
Family and friends may call Friday from 12-1 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Ave., N.W. Canton, Ohio 44703 followed by a service at 1 p.m.
