Margaret M. (Peg) Proebstle
   
  
Margaret M. (Peg) Proebstle, 83, of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of Warren, PA, and Canton, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday February 7, 2024, in Henry Ford Jackson Hospital surrounded by her family.
   
  
Peg was born in Canton, Ohio, on October 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Paul V. and Mildred T. (Betzler) DeVille. She was raised in Canton, OH, and graduated from Central Catholic HS. After attending Ursuline College for two years, Peg was a PBX operator and receptionist at the DeVille Lumber Co. and was later employed in the mail order dept. with the Blair Corporation.
   
  
On November 30, 1963, Peg married John L. Proebstle in Canton, OH. Subsequently they lived on the West Coast for 17 years where John was employed by the US Forest Service, and they raised their four children. The family enjoyed canoeing, camping, and other outdoor activities. As their daughters were growing up, Peg was a Bluebird and Campfire leader.
   
  
As a member of St. Joseph RC Church, Peg was a Minister of the Eucharist, for many years she was active in teaching CCD, was on the RICA team, and was involved in the Faith Sharing Group.
   
  
For 40 years, John and Peg enjoyed "Western-Style" Square Dancing and danced wherever they lived in Oregon, Washington, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
   
  
In retirement they traveled to Alaska, Canada and across the US as well as spending time with their four children and grandchildren and later moved to Vista Grande Villa in Jackson, MI, her home for the past 10 years. Peg was very involved in the Vista community and made many lifelong friends. As a member of Queen of the Miraculous Medal Church, Peg was a Minister of the Eucharist and was involved in the Faith Sharing Group.
   
  
Peg enjoyed biking, birdwatching, and working in her flower gardens.
   
  
She is survived by her four loving children, Mark A. Proebstle and wife Shelly (Allison, Jack, and Valerie) of Mason, MI, Luann R. Proebstle and husband Mark Wise (Colby) of Richmond, VA, Amy S. Knepp and husband Thomas (Lauren and Jacob) of Charlotte, NC, and Joel L. Proebstle and wife Kathy (Brady and Kellen) of Clarksville, MD; sister, Edith E. Smith and husband Frank of Westerville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
   
  
In addition to her parents, Peg was preceded in death by her loving husband, John L. Proebstle, and brother, Charles W. DeVille of North Canton, OH.
   
  
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on March 15, 2024, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church at 3430 St. Michael Blvd. NW, Canton, OH 44718. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Massillon, OH with a luncheon to follow at the Fannon Center at St Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
