Marilyn H. Maier
Age 95, of Canton, passed away Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 20, 1922 in Massillon, a daughter of the late Reginald and Helen (Genet) McDermott, and was a life resident of the Canton-Massillon area. Marilyn was a 1940 graduate of Massillon Washington High School. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, St. Michael's Sociable Seniors, the Lake Cable Woman's Club, Lake Cable Retirees, and formerly the Tam-O'Shanter Golf League. She also had been a poll worker for 32 years in Stark County. Besides her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, William J. Maier, on April 10, 1998, and her son, William W. Maier, on Sept. 28, 1992. She is survived by two daughters and a son, Margaret (Michael) Rideout, Elizabeth (Donald) Powley, Jr., and Michael (Harriett) Maier; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Family and friends may meet at St. Michael's Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 2 p.m. with Fr. Scott Kopp as Celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour before the Mass. Interment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
