Mary K. Gibbons of Clinton, Ohio, passed away January 10, 2019. She was born August 15, 1929, in Canton, to the late Edward and Grace (Vogel) Gibbons. Mary was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, in Terre Haute, Indiana where she earned her bachelor of fine arts degree, majoring in painting and design. She also studied sculpture at the Cleveland Art Institute and in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Mary was a retired painter and clay sculptor specializing in portrait bust. She will be fondly remembered by the numerous children who attended Miss Gibbon's art classes on Saturday mornings. Mary also taught adult art sculpture and calligraphy from her home in Canton. She worked also doing commercial calligraphy and lettering. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Stark County, member of Saint Paul Catholic Church in North Canton, former member of Mercy Service League and former President of the Circle of Mercy. She is survived by her sister and brothers-in-law, Sheila and Richard Farmer of Clinton and George Seanor of North Canton and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her sisters and brother-in-law, Ann Seanor and Jane and Frank Schirack. A special thank you to the Sisters and staff of the House of Loreto for their care. Family and friends will meet on Monday at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church in North Canton for a Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor James Clarke as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the House of Loreto or Central Catholic High School.
