Mary Catherine Kolp

Mary Catherine Kolp 96, of Canton passed away December 7, 2020. Born October 3, 1924 in Youngstown to the late John and Mary Elizabeth Buckon. Cathy graduated from Youngstown South High School and immediately went into Nursing School and became a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland where she would meet an Intern, Joseph Kolp whom she would marry, and have a wonderful marriage. Cathy was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, a daughter Mary Jane, and two sons, Joseph and David. A devout Catholic, Cathy was a long time member of St. Michael the Archangel. As her children were growing up you would regularly see Cathy at sporting and school events at St. Michaels and Central Catholic. Cathy was active in the Timken-Mercy Service League and St. Michael's Guild. Cathy is survived by her son, Peter and daughter-in-law Paula of Pinehurst, North Carolina, and Daughter Patricia of Lompoc, California. Cathy was blessed with 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Services are private with burial in Calvary Cemetery In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
