Mary L. Merry, age 89, of Canton, passed away peacefully at her home on October 19, 2026.

Born in Canton, Ohio, on March 8, 1937, Mary was the daughter of the late Everett and Ruth (Ensign) Anderson and was one of four children. She dedicated many years of service to Environmental Health and was a longtime member of the Stark County Women Democrats. Mary valued community involvement and formed many lasting friendships through her work and civic engagement.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Michael Merry; sister, Thelma Wright; and brother, Frank Anderson.

She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, cherished great-grandmother, and loyal sister whose love knew no bounds. She is survived by her daughters, Theresa (Ron) Tallman, Melissa Merry and partner, Kate, and Janine (Steve) Crislip; son, John Merry; seven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Everett Anderson; and many friends and acquaintances who will deeply miss her.

The family will receive guests at Lamiell Funeral Home, on Monday, October 26, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., as memories are shared, stories are told, and Mary's life is lovingly celebrated by all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Towpath Trail YMCA.
