Mary E. Michel

Mary E. Michel, age 93 of Canton, Ohio, loving mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, and sister, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at Bethany Assisted-Living Facility. She was born November 27, 1927 in Canton, Ohio, the daughter of Raymond and Catherine Frank. Mary was a graduate of North Canton High School and Canton Actual Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper for the family business, Michel's Service Station and Garage, in Harrisburg. After raising her family, Mary worked as a bank teller at Key Bank until she retired. She was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart of Mary Parish working Bingo and annual festivals and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. With her acute mind, she achieved Life Master as a member of the ACBL Bridge Club. Mary was an incredibly strong woman who valued family, possessed a deep faith in God, enjoyed cooking and baking and was quite competitive in board and card games. In the last 3 years of her life, she transitioned to the Bethany community. In her short time there, she adjusted quite well and became very involved and made many friends. The family is so appreciative of the dedicated Baum family and staff who looked out for her in providing exceptional care. Mary will be missed but not forgotten. Her values and beliefs will live on forever through her children and grandchildren. Mary is survived by children Katherine Michel of Wallingford, CT, Patrick Michel of Pickerington, Dianne (Patrick) Loomis of Hamburg, NY, Philip (Patricia) Michel of Sylvania, Jennifer (Steven) Coon of Louisville, Edward (Barbara) Michel of Frisco, TX, and Alan (Michelle) Michel of North Canton; siblings: Sue (Richard) Fleming, Nancy Thompson; sisters-in-law Judy Frank and Debbie Frank; 18 grandchildren: Erin, Pat Carl, Katie, Matthew, Michelle, Justin, Jacob, Trevor, Brianne, Josh, Chad, Danielle, Shawn, Paige, Alaina, Zachary, Chloe, and Owen and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Norbert Michel; siblings: Joseph, Rose Marie, Monica, and James. Family and friends may call on Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Christ the Servant Parish followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bethany Nurse Education Scholarship Program c/o Bethany Nursing Home or Christ the Servant Parish.
