Mary Jane Schneider

December 16, 1919 — January 4, 2017

Mary Jane Schneider, age 97, died Wednesday after a brief illness. Born in Covington, Kentucky, she had lived in Canton most of her life. With her husband she owned and operated Schneider's Market. Mary Jane was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist. Preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert H. Schneider, son, Robert "Bo" Schneider Jr, two sisters and a brother. Survived by four daughters, June Wuerthele of North Canton, Mary Anne (David) Hughes of Nashville, Tennessee, Betty Franta of Chicago, Illinois, and Martha (Tom) Wachunas of Canton: five sons, Donald (MK Monley) Schneider of Waterbury Center, Vermont, William (Elizabeth) Schneider of Canal Fulton, James (Denise) Schneider of Canton, John (Lori) Schneider of East Sparta and Michael (Kathy) Schneider of Euharlee, Georgia, daughter-in-law, Judy Schneider of Akron: 38 grandchildren, 56 great-grandgrandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Kendall of California. The family would like to thank the staffs of Brookdale of Canton and Crossroads Hospice for their care. Family and friends will meet on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist for a Mass of Christian Burial with The Very Reverend Ronald Klingler as celebrant. Burial will be in Saint John Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital or Crossroads Hospice.
