Mary Rita Seaman

Mary Rita Seaman, age 82, passed away on Monday March 28, 2016 in Macedonia, Ohio. Mary Rita was born on June 7, 1933 to Clarence and Elizabeth (Flagg) Sisterhen spending almost her entire life in the Canton area. She was an active parishioner at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist for many years where she practiced the faith she loved. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1951. At the age of 19 she married Thomas J. Seaman on August 9, 1952 where she found her vocation in life as a wife and mother. She gave birth to 8 children in 10 years and raised her 6 boys and 2 girls to be compassionate and loving to all. She understood the power of the family to overcome any obstacle and transcend any hardship. She lived what she preached and preached what she believed by her daily examples of patience and charity. Mary Rita was preceded in death by her husband Tom Seaman, her sisters Betty Jane Berkey and Jackie John, and brother Edward Sisterhen. She is survived by her sons Michael and (Rhonda) Seaman of Canton, Ohio; Thomas and (Laura) Seaman of New York, N.Y.; Robert and (Jill) Seaman of Louisville, Ohio; James and (Mary) Seaman of Canton, Ohio; Dr. David and (Renee) Seaman of Washington, Pa.; Patrick and (Edy) Seaman of Canton, Ohio; and daughters, Kathleen and (Scott) Oberlin of Macedonia, Ohio; and Therese Bahr of Canton, Ohio. Mary Rita is also survived by her brother Gene and (Sony) Sisterhen and her brother-in-law Robert Berkey. She is also survived by her 25 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10:00 am at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist with The Very Reverend Ronald Klinger as Celebrant. Entombment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
