MILDRED DEMCHAK

Mildred Demchak, affectionately known as "Midge," passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 24, 2023, at the age of 98, after a long bout with Alzheimer's. At the time of her death, Midge was a resident of St. Luke's Lutheran Community. Midge was born on May 15, 1925, to John and Agnes Frantz, who preceded her in death. Midge grew up in Canton and graduated from Timken High School in 1943.

Midge and her late husband, Michael, were married for 40 years until his death in 1986 and had six children; her daughters, Teresa and Susanne (David Theis), based in Houston, TX, and her four sons, Thomas (Linda), Michael (Jana), and James, all of Canton, and Jeffrey (Lani) of Half Moon Bay, CA.; ten grandchildren and step grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many more beloved family members. Midge is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Risaliti and Kathy Laughlin; and a brother, William Frantz.

Before Alzheimer's took its toll, Midge loved traveling, playing golf, bowling, doing crossword puzzles, watching the Cleveland Guardians games, playing cards (especially Aggravation), organizing family picnics, other gatherings and baking (she co-authored a cookbook for St. Paul's Catholic Church in Canton). She was also an events planner for Meadowlake Golf and Swim Club for several years. While battling Alzheimer's, Midge remained in good spirits and enjoyed visiting with family and reliving old memories.

In addition to her parents and husband, Midge was preceded in death by a sister, Margeen; and brothers, John (Jack) and Robert.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 31, 2023, at Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton. Services in Midge's honor will be held on September 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 726 Cleveland Ave NW, Canton. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Luke's Lutheran Community for the care they provided to Midge since 2016. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the St. Luke's Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.
