Norma Jean Hardgrove, age 91, passed away January 6, 2018. A lifelong resident of North Canton, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Matilda Kolp. She was a graduate of NoCaHi High School and the Mercy School of Nursing as a registered nurse. She met the love of her life, Dale, in the emergency room and spent 63 great years with him. She worked at Mercy Hospital, married, had two children, and went on to work at the office of Drs Krichbaum and Newell. She was a life member of St Paul Catholic Church North Canton. She enjoyed life with her family and was a devoted wife, mother and nurse. She liked to garden, cook from "scratch" and keep a clean home - the Norma curse as it is fondly referred to within the family. She thoroughly enjoyed and spoiled the many pets that were a part of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dale Hardgrove, and her siblings and their spouses, Robert and Ace Kolp, Virginia and William Rufenacht, Walter and Corrine Kolp and Helen Kolp. She is survived by her children, daughter, Nancy (Tom) Rice and son, David (Andrea) Hardgrove, grandchildren, Dustin Hardgrove and Rene Hardgrove, step grandchildren, Bryan (Tracy) Rice, Kevin (Chrissy) Rice, Aimee (Brian) Newland. She has seven great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the angels at the Inn at Whitewood, St Luke Lutheran Home and Aultman Compassionate Care who cared for Norma with such great kindness and compassion during her final days and years.
Family and friends may call on Thursday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church (North Canton) with Monsignor James Clarke and Monsignor James Kolp as celebrants. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
