Obituary for Fred Hartleben

Age 69, of Massillon, passed away Thur., Apr. 5, 2018. Born in Marietta, a son of the late Roy and Carmen (Yglesias) Hartleben, he had been a resident of the Canton/Louisville area most of his life. Fred retired from Operating Engineers Local #18 and served with the U.S. Marines Corp during the VietNam War, serving two tours and received the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and Combat Action Ribbon. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where he was an usher, Eucharistic Minister and helped with C.C.D. and R.L.I.A Programs. Fred was a member of Canton Council #341 Knights of Columbus, where he was named Knight of the Year several times, Msgr. Graham Assembly 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, American Legion Post #44, Canton V.F.W. Post #3747, Massillon V.F.W. Post #3124 and The Patriots. Survived by his significant other, Donna Gresh; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Tina Hartleben, Ramona Hartleben, Rhonda and Shawn Cassidy, Sheila Hensley, and Tammy Jo and William Graham; two sons, Justin McFadden and John Gresh; one sister, Betty Jo Hendrickson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Karen Hartleben and Eric and Charlene Hartleben; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thur. at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Frank Carfagne as Celebrant. Friends may call Wed. from 6-8 p.m. in Lamiell Funeral Home. Additionally, a graveside service will be held Fri. at 1:30 p.m. in Tabor Cemetery in Stockport, OH. Friends may call Fri. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Stone-Matheney Funeral Home in Chesterhill, OH. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 2427 W. Tuscarawas St., Canton, OH 44708. Condolences may be left at:
