Pablo Jesus Atienza Aquino

October 27, 1935 — July 14, 2017

Pablo Jesus Atienza Aquino, 81, of Canton, passed away in peace on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Aultman Hospital. He was born October 27, 1935 in Baguio City, Philippines. He was the son of the late Felipe and Josefina (Atienza) Aquino. Pablo earned his MBA from the University of the Philippines and was a professor at the Mindanao State University when he met his wife, Rosieminda (Rose) Betita in 1969. The two wed on May 30, 1970 and were married for over 47 years. In 1972, he and his family left the Philippines and immigrated to Canton. He was an accountant at Becton Dickinson and then taught accounting at Stark State College until his retirement in 2008. Pablo was a quiet, humble man and a devout Catholic. He was also an avid reader. Pablo could often be found reading whatever he could get his hands on – even if they were the grandkids' books. His family brought him great pride and joy, and he was most generous in every way – time, talent and treasure. He is survived by his wife Rosieminda, his sister-in-law Ruby Aquino of New York City and his daughter PI (Steve) Ebeling of Chicago and three grandchildren, Carson, Zoe and Mack. His three brothers Marvin, Jolly and David preceded him in death. Family and friends will meet on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Christ the Servant Parish for a Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Friends may call Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Relief Services www.crs.org.
