Patrick V. Kelly

Patrick V. Kelly, age 94, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Pat was born March 18, 1928, in Sharon, Pa., to Harold and Agnes Kelly. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1946 and later served with the 3rd Infantry Division as a Sergeant First Class in the Korean Conflict, receiving a Purple Heart with Oak leaf cluster.

Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann, and his brother Kevin. Survivors include his brother Paul of San Juan Capistrano, CA. He was proud of his Irish heritage, which he passed on to his seven children: Patrick (Debra), Kathleen Kelly-Calcei (Eugene), Kevin (Katherine), Timothy (Allyson), Thomas (Suzanne), Daniel (Wendy) and Theresa Ingram, as well as his 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Pat was a 43-year veteran of the U.S. Postal Service. He was Postmaster of Canton and manager of the Canton Sectional Center before serving appointments as Postmaster of Louisville, KY, Youngstown and Toledo, Ohio. Pat was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National League of Postmasters, National Association of Postmasters of the United States, Hall of Fame Luncheon Club and Catholic Men's Luncheon Club.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 30, 2022, from 5-7 p.m. at Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Ave. NW, Canton, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Basilica of St. John the Baptist. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Stark County.
