PAUL E. DOUGHERTY

Paul E. Dougherty was born on January 8, 1949, passed away on January 4, 2023, and lived, loved, created, and played in his signature way until complications from Parkinson's slowed him down. His spirit is now free again!

Paul was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Janice; his second wife, Dianne C; his mother, Margaret M., his father, Paul F., his brother, Eugene J., and his favorite dogs, Zepherin and Abigail, all of Canton, OH.

Paul is survived by two daughters: Laura (Jennifer) Dougherty and Elizabeth (Matt) Brauer; five granddaughters and was elated to be expecting his first grandson next month; two brothers: Edward P. (Kathleen), Bryan (Vickie Flickinger); sisters-in-law: Sharon Dougherty and Phyllis Allen; brother-in-law Tom Hoch; and brother-in-trouble Terry Perdew. Paul was a strong influence in the lives of Jackie Allen Lemberger and Doug Allen.

Paul's compassion and influence touched countless others over the course of his life. Those heartfelt tributes and gratitude now comfort his daughters and add dimension to the depth of their understanding of the man their father was. Thank you.

Paul earned a bachelor's degree at Kent State University and was the former President and third generation Co-Owner of Stark Mold and Pattern in Canton, Ohio. Paul took great pride in owning a small business, making significant contributions to the toy, auto, and healthcare industries, along with making fantastic fun pieces in the shop like a pig-shaped watering can with irrigating nostrils, that are still nourishing plants on patios today.

Paul enjoyed living near the water, spending years living in Dellroy, OH where he spent time on Atwood Lake, with a Beefeater Martini very dry with a twist often in hand. He enjoyed spending his retirement years near the ocean in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where his youngest daughter lives.

Paul loved cars, unique collectibles, good food, and perfecting the repeated delivery of his favorite jokes. At the family's request, please ask a stranger today what you call a bear with no teeth - a gummy bear - because it will make Paul's eyes dance with delight from above.

A funeral mass service will take place Monday, January 23rd at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Parish in Massillon, OH. Burial will immediately follow at Calvary Cemetery in Massillon.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Paul's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Because "Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads!"
