Philip B. Kolp
Philip B. Kolp, 89, passed away peacefully at Rose Lane Nursing Home in Massillon, Ohio, May 11, 2023. He was born in Canton, Ohio to the late Cyril and Phydelia (Loichot) Kolp, March 21, 1934. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Kolp; brother, Daniel Kolp; sister, Janet Haidet; infant sister, Teresa Kolp; and stepmother, Ida Nordick Bell Kolp.
A devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon, Philip was not a man to sit idle. He enjoyed helping family and friends, especially when it came to building homes. He was instrumental in starting the DSD Builders Supply Company, where he worked for 16 years after retiring from Ed Williams Lumber, as their Sales VP with 38 years of experience and service. Proudly, he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict.
Philip is survived by his daughter, Sharon Dentler of Canton; three grandchildren, Douglas (Eneida) Dentler, Dr. Michael (Stacey) Dentler, Christopher (Sarah) Dentler; as well as six great-grandchildren, Anabella, Anthony, Cassidy, Tatum, Scott, and Samantha; and many genuine friends.
Private services have taken place at Lamiell Funeral Home, Canton, officiated by Monsignor Lew Gaetano, with interment at Calvary Cemetery, Massillon.
