RICHARD "Dick" T. TRISSEL


Richard "Dick" T. Trissel, of Canton, Ohio, passed away May 16, 2024. He was 91. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on February 5, 1933, he was the son of Leroy and Grace (Jones) Trissel, who preceded him in death. Together with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, whom he has been reunited with; as well as his sister, Grace Mary Ley; and brothers, Roy, Robert, John, and Jim.


Richard's favorite times were with his brother at the horse races, especially Mountaineer Park. He enjoyed high school football and spent weekends watching games. He was an advid model train collector and also loved collecting his hats. He retired from J&L Specialty Steel after 37 years of service. He was married to his wife, Marlene, for 68 years and together they raised their family. Richard was a United States Air Force veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 44, VFW Post 3747, and United Steel Workers Local 1046 where he was past president.


Richard's memory will live on in the hearts of sons, Robert Trissel and William (Sally) Trissel; and daughter, Kathleen Trissel and brother, Gary Trissel.


A Graveside Service will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, in Rittman, on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 12:45 PM. Military Honors will be presented.


The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to Canton Regency for the care given to Richard and the support given to the family.


In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests any donations to the Humane Society of Stark County.
