RICHARD C. WHITMER
Lifelong Canton resident and United States Air Force veteran, Richard C. Whitmer, passed away the morning of July 15, 2023, at his home, with his family by his side. He was born July 12, 1940, to Carl and Ruth (Shisler) Whitmer, who preceded him in death.
Richard, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and papaw is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sue Delap-Whitmer; daughters, Jodi (Brad) Brewer, Jamie (Larry) Pipero; sons, Michael (Crystal) Whitmer, KJ Hartwick; grandchildren, Brandy, Desiree, Kayleigh, Kileigh, Alyssa, Madison, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Colson and Stone; sister-in-law, Sandy (Jake) DeBenedictis; and special cousins, Cindy and Nancy.
He retired from Stark Federal Credit Union, enjoyed golfing, bowling, and was a huge outdoors enthusiast. He was a member of the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist, where he served as an usher, as well as a member of the Perry History Club.
Richard was truly a great man whose impact will be felt forever by his family. His selflessness, love, and support leave a gap and will be engrained forever in all he knew.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 21st, 2023, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, with the service following immediately, at Lamiell Funeral Home, 1353 Cleveland Avenue, NW. Pastor Shawn Matako will officiate. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Canton. His family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Perry History Club.
