In Loving Memory of Robert James Bergmann

Robert Bergmann was the son of Frederick and Serena Bergmann and the youngest of seven children. He was a life-long resident of Canton and served in the US Airforce for 4 years. After the Service, he worked at the Timken Company in the Engineering Department. Post retirement, he worked at Heggy’s Nut Shop until he was 90 years old.

He was married 61 years to Marjorie Wilson who proceeded him in death. They enjoyed dancing, traveling, and always had fun visiting friends and entertaining. He is survived by his children, Debbie and Dave (son-in -law), Cindy and John (son-in-law); and 3 grandchildren, Erin, Adam and Joshua; and 2 great-grandchildren, Anna and Natalie.

He is frequently thought of as a fun person who enjoyed life, family, and people with a passion and zest for life. He was a fantastic father, grandfather, and great grandfather. At 80 years old he was babysitting the newborn granddaughters. He was always available to help someone in need. He carried a smile on his face, a positive attitude, and loved a good joke.

Church was also a very important part of his life. He attended Christ the Servant Church where he ushered throughout many years of his life.

Bob was the best of all Bobs, as the community at large proposes, the name be officially retired. Henceforth, all other Bobs can go by Bobby, Bob the second, or Steve. Bob loved music and enjoyed going to concerts and listening to his favorite artists. He enjoyed golfing with friends and bowling. Most nights you could find him at his favorite eateries not only for the food but to socialize with patrons and staff. He was also an avid football fan, never missed the RedZone and was a member of the Hall of Fame Club.

Everywhere he went he knew someone, even in other states. And not just your name, he remembered your life story like he just saw you the day before. He is going to be missed by all who knew him, but our hope is that you smile daily and bring joy to others in his memory. Simply put, he was an amazing person, and we were all privileged to know him.

His story ends here but, as Bob would say; “Whoever eats the fastest, gets the mostest.” So have another coney, life is short, but sweet when you make the people you touch and the community around you better.
