Ronald W. Steffen, 87, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 18th, surrounded by his family. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Steffen and Ladean Willis; brother Charles 'Chuck' Steffen; daughter-in-law Viki Steffen; best friend and beer buddy Ed Rehfus and wife Marge Rehfus.
Ron is survived by his wife of 65 years, Alberta; daughter Debra and husband Robert Myers, son Ronald Steffen, and granddaughter Natalie (Myers) Salay and husband Matthew Salay. Beloved brother John E. Steffen, Fred F. Steffen and wife Gloria Steffen, and sister-in-law Linda Steffen, and several nieces and nephews.
Ron was a lifelong resident of Canton, Ohio. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1954, and was a member of the state championship McKinley High School Swim Team under renowned coach CT Branin. Ron served in the US Army and subsequently was a member in the VFW Honor Guard. He worked for General Electric and Black and Decker for 42 years before the time of his happy retirement.
Ron enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, manicuring his perfect lawn, and an ice cold refreshing Budweiser. He was known as someone who would do anything for anyone, and loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by many.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Pastor Amy Downard officiating. Entombment will be in the North Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 p.m.
