Roy H. Batista, age 75, died Saturday. Born in Fostoria he had lived in the North Canton area most of his life. Roy earned a BA from Miami University of Ohio and a JD from the University of Michigan. He was a retired attorney and had served as Law Director of North Canton and Solicitor for the Village of Hartville. He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church (North Canton), North Canton Knights of Columbus, Stark County Bar Association, North Canton Rotary, the Unique Club and a former member of the North Canton Jaycees. Survived by his wife, Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Batista of the home, daughters, Joan Batista of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania and Margaret Ann "Peggy" (Robert Bazzoli) Batista of Uniontown, sons, Matthew Batista of Cincinnati and Marcus Batista of Queens, New York, seven grandchildren and a brother, Daniel (Sandy) Batista of Naples, Florida. Family and friends will meet on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul Catholic Church (North Canton) for a Mass of Christian Burial with Monsignor James Clark and Monsignor James Kolp as concelebrants. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home.
