Ted was proud to be one of few surviving World War II Veterans. He entered the U. S. Coast Guard at age 17, completed three years, four months, and two days, honorably discharged as a Water Tender Petty Officer First Class. He served in the Pacific Theater on the troop transport U.S.S. Callaway APA35.
He spent several years at Poor and Company and retired as a Boiler Operator at the V. A. Clinic in Brecksville, OH. He learned his trade as Steam Boiler Operator in the service and was proud that he spent a total of 57 years in that trade.
After years of genealogy research, Ted discovered that his ancestor, Richard Warren, came here on the Mayflower and enjoyed his fellowship with other members of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. His passions included his family for whom he was always available, and history, especially of World War II and Canton. He had an uncanny knowledge of all sea-faring vessels. He and Frances participated in yearly U.S.S. Callaway Reunions all over the United States and hosted the group here in Canton.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Canton and loved his Church family. He was known for his humor, kindness, work ethic and being the family fix-it man. Ted enjoyed conversation with all people and always showed an interest in their lives, never forgetting important details he learned about them.
