Thomas New Chalfant

Thomas New Chalfant, age 83, of Navarre passed away Tuesday, September 13 at the Aultman Compassionate Care Center, Born in Canton on August 30, 1933 to Catherine Patricia and Thomas Briggs Chalfant, He attended Lincoln High School and join the U.S. Navy his senior year. After two years in the Navy and earning his GED, Tom returned and married Patricia Ann Wenzel. They raised three boys in Richville as he worked various jobs in the area finally retiring from Republic Engineered Steel. Preceded in death by his wife in 2013. He is survived by his sons, Timothy J. Chalfant of Navarre, Brian J. Chalfant of Massillon and Matthew C. (Theresa) Chalfant of Massillon and granddaughter, Sydney Chalfant. The family would like to thank all those who helped care for and befriend our father after his stroke in 2014. All the exceptional staff of Aultman Hospice and Palliative Care and especially family friend Kathy Shackle, for caring for dad his final year. Visitation will be held at the Lamiell Funeral Home on Friday, September 16 from 5-8 p.m. Family and friends will meet for a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, September 17 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Parish (Saint Clement's) in Navarre with a gathering of friends and family afterwards to exchange fond memories. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Aultman Compassionate Care Center, 2821 Woodlawn Avenue, NW, Canton, Ohio.
