Thomas “Tom” Eugene Murray

Thomas "Tom" Eugene Murray died on May 23, 2021, in Canton, Ohio. Tom was born on January 19, 1931 in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania to the late Mary Ellen (née Crane) and Patrick Murray. Tom was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Ellen (née Carl); his infant son, William Patrick; his mother, Mary Ellen and father, Patrick; and his brother, Paul and sister, Mary. Tom had five siblings: Mary Carroll (George); Paul (Christine, Elizabeth); Patricia Mirth (Lou); Marguerite Orban (Michael); and Helen Barcaskey (Jon), and many nieces and nephews. Tom graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1948 and received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1955. He worked for many years at Babcock & Wilcox in Canton, Ohio before joining Astro Metallurgical in Wooster, Ohio as the Vice President of Operations in 1983. After his retirement from Astro Metallurgical, he worked for DeHoff Realty in Canton, Ohio. He was an active member of Shady Hollow Country Club for many years and served a term as Chairman. He was also a member of the Greater Canton Chamber of Commerce, volunteered with Junior Achievement, and was a Team Captain of the Walsh College Annual Operations Campaign. After he retired, he volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. He is survived by his his five children: Tom Murray (Shelly) of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Kevin Murray (Valerie) of Dublin, Ohio; Elaine Cirino (Jerry) of Valrico, Florida; Carleen Hildebrand (Ron) of Hilliard, Ohio; and Paul Murray of Canton, Ohio. Tom had thirteen grandchildren: Heather (Ricky); Ali (Rob); Craig; Adam (Lauren); Chad (Devan); Drew (Dalay); Katelyn; Bobby; Paul; Caroline; Catherine (Chris); Paulie; and Ricky. Tom also had three great-grandchildren: Leo, Connor, and Daphne. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
