William A. Breting, 88, passed away on April 1, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 9, 1935, to parents, Harold Breting and Ethel Breting (Bridenthal).
   
  
He was a graduate of Lehman High School, attended Oberlin College and graduated from Ohio Northern University earning his Pharmaceutical bachelor's degree. He worked at Independent Drugs in Akron, Ohio as a purchasing agent, Bowan Drugs in the manufacturing section, as well as Doctors Hospital, retiring from St. Thomas/Summa as Director of Pharmacy.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged after serving as Captain of the 350th Evacuation Hospital. He was an active member in the Elks of North Canton, the Reserves Officers Association, the JCI Senators, and the United Methodist Church. William enjoyed boating, along with water skiing, bird watching, vacationing along the South Carolina beaches, and watching Big Ten Football and Basketball.
   
  
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine (Pflug) Breting; children, Michelle Breting of North Canton, Ohio, Will Breting of North Canton, Ohio, and Jeffrey Breting of Evanston, Illinois; two grandchildren, Ashley Pfeil, and Chase Breting.
His family would like to give a very special thank you to the doctors and medical staff at Unity Health Network, Cleveland Clinic, Davita, Crossroads Hospice, and North Canton EMS that provided comfort care, support, and assistance during this time of sorrow.
