WILLIAM O. MCDONALD, JR.

William O. McDonald, Jr., of Dover, Ohio, passed away November 22, 2024. He was 91, a testament to a life well lived. Born in Canton, Ohio on December 8, 1932, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy (Haren) McDonald. Also preceding William in death was his brother, Duane McDonald and sister, Fay Calhoun.

Living to be 91, he gathered many stories, watched the world change, learned to grow with it, and still found wonder in each new day. Bill, as he was known to all, proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, during the Korean Conflict, as a combatant on the front lines. A biography was written about him by a professor at California State University, Fullerton. It is now in the Marine Corps library in Quantico, Virginia. He was a dynamic man, who enjoyed painting and making music for the elderly. He retired after 28 years of service from the U.S. Postal Service.

Bill is survived by his very special friends, who were very much like family, Joe and Gayle Potelicki. Bill's wishes were simple, he wanted no visitation or service, being remembered in spirit. Inurnment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery.

Lamiell Funeral Home was entrusted with Bill's care. To share memories of Bill and his incredible journey, you may visit: www.lamiellfuneralhome.com
