William Franklin Osborne, Jr., 79 of Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, with his wife by his side.
Born on March 19, 1947 in Cleveland County, North Carolina, he lived a life defined not by grand gestures or a desire for recognition, but by quiet dedication, steady curiosity, and deep loyalty to the people he loved. A lifelong food microbiologist, he approached his work with the same humility that shaped every part of his life—never seeking the spotlight, always focused on the purpose behind the work and the people it helped.
Before beginning his scientific career, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, an experience that strengthened his sense of duty and shaped the calm, grounded presence he carried throughout his life.
Though he accomplished much, he found joy in simple moments. He never needed attention to feel fulfilled.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Denice Osborne; his daughter, Elizabeth (Matt) Fischer; his grandchildren, Vince and Max; sister, Jane Osborne Clark; and extended family and friends who were touched by his gentle nature and steady kindness. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel (Wright) Osborne.
Lamiell Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place, and interment will take place at Guardian Angel Cemetery, Rochester, Michigan.
He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, curiosity, and love—proof that a meaningful life doesn’t need fanfare to shine. For those who wish to honor his memory, please visit www.lamiellfiuneralhonme.com.
