William E. "Bill" Roden

William E. "Bill" Roden of Rocky River and formerly of Canton passed peacefully on October 11th into the arms of our loving God after a lengthy illness. Born on January 1st, 1939, to the late Cecilia (Stock) and Edmund Roden, attended St. John Elementary, Canton Central Catholic High School and Kent State University. Bill worked at several different places during his career, including being the former owner of Bill's Hall of Foam. However, his favorite was organist and choir director at various churches, especially the Basilica of St. John the Baptist and St. Joseph Catholic Church. He also enjoyed driving school bus for Tuscarawas Central Catholic athletics. Survived by his wife of 48 years, Sally (Krum), children Bill (Paula), Julie Vodhanel (Dave), Stacy Miner, David (Ashley), Janice Kagemann (Larry), Mary Brauer (Jerry) and Debbie Cassara (Vinny), 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brothers Thomas (Carina), Jerry and Robert (Bonnie) and brother-in-law Phil Kolp. Preceded in death by his son Jeff, parents and sister Joanne Kolp. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist with the Very Reverend John Sheridan, STL-Rector as celebrant. Burial in St. John Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Michael School.
